A DELICIOUS PARTY
Reaching 30 is a milestone like no other. With M-Net fast approaching the big 3-0, the birthday festivities kicked off at the annual DStv Delicious Festival held over the weekend at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
There was magic in the air from the moment people started arriving with camp chairs, umbrellas, summer hats and a spring in their step. With the race track the setting for a weekend full of fun, booth scouring, food and wine tasting, and finding the perfect festival spot were the order of the day. Television’s top chefs Reuben Riffel, Sarah Graham, muso-turned chef J-Something (hot off the stage) and many more had an array of delectable three-course meals for foodies to enjoy.
And for the kids? A kid-friendly kids-zone with their favourite cartoon characters, fun movies and yummy treats was on hand to keep them occupied while the parents took in the many stands on offer. There was something for everyone!
Home-grown band MiCasa got the musical extravaganza going, keeping everyone on their feet, dancing the day away and singing along to all their favourite jams. Other acts De La Soul, Elements of Life, Arrested Development and Macy Gray hit the stage to a roaring crowd. The early evening showers could not dampen the mood.
Stars recall getting their two-hour fix of timeless entertainment.
The magical moments kept coming with a special treat by the top 9 Idols’ contestants singing a special song: A Kind of Magic. With the country’s favourite singing sensations on stage, the crowd simply could not get enough.
Sunday continued the festivities with Lira, Judith Sephuma, Roy Ayers, Elements of Life, Hugh Masekela and The Jacksons as the highlights of the day.
