kykNET Winter Schedule Change
Start prepping the fireplace and make yourself comfortable in front of the television because the three kykNET channels (DStv 144-146) are bringing the best entertainment to your lounge this winter. It’s time to relax and warm up to the new kykNET winter schedule.
“The kykNET platform is now bigger than ever. We had to rethink our programme schedule from July to make room for all our new content. Our biggest priority, as always, remains our viewers and this was the biggest consideration in the decision-making around changing schedules. We serve a growing and diverse audience and people’s behaviour and needs are constantly changing. Our audience also expects us to stay ahead of international television trends but still bring them the best in local storytelling. Our new schedule represents all these considerations and behaviour shifts. Watch and enjoy!” Karen Meiring Director: kykNET-channels.
It is our aim to keep viewers engaged with excellent entertainment during the week with double the comedy, new dramas, and new programmes such as Kook en Geniet. As a bonus your favourite programmes such as Kwêla, Bravo and Jou Show will now be broadcast on weekends.
The following timeslot changes were made:
Getroud met Rugby moves to 21:00 from 10 July 2017 on the kykNET channels DStv 144 and 145. Viewers will have to wait to see what this new timeslot on the premium kykNET channel 144 holds for the Stryders and the Pom-Pom girls.
Suidooster moves to 18:30 from 10 July on kykNET (Dstv channel 144) and kykNET&kie (Dstv channel 145). These changes give viewers the opportunity to stay tuned in for the Afrikaans eNuus at 19:00 simulcast on both channels.
The new schedule offers our Premium subscribers a great primetime line-up with a daily dose of drama and comedy, the Afrikaans news, new shows and our live broadcast panel discussions with an overview of world events in shows such as kykNET Verslag, Prontuit, Winslyn, In Gesprek and Flits.
Mondays will chase the blues away with a double bill of comedy such as Elke Skewe Pot (Franci Swanepoel, Marisa Drummond, Carien Botha, Carine Rous and Hannes Brümmer) at 20:00 and Parlement Parlement at 20:30, with Louw Venter and Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp as our own Madame Speaker.
Tuesdays are for drama with the second season of the SAFTA and ATKV Media-veertjie winner Die Boekklub, from 11 July 2017 at 20:00.
A brand new cooking show based on the iconic, best selling cookbook, Kook en Geniet, will start on Wednesday 5 July at 20:00, followed by the third season of the popular Groen Namibië on 12 July at 20:30. Cricket lovers can also tune in to kykNET&kie (DStv-channel 145) for the brand new season of BVP with Johnny Davids and Fanie de Villiers at 21:30.
The previous season of Legendes van Afrikaanse Musiek was well received by viewers and will focus on the history of Gé Korsten, Rina Hugo and Johan van Rensburg, Lucas Maree and Boet Pretorius from Thursday 6 Julie at 20:30.
As an extra bonus for viewers, a season of Afrikaans films will be broadcast in July, on Sunday evenings at 21:00. Highlights include Modder en Bloed, Noem My Skollie and Treurgrond.
Don’t miss out! With all the DStv Catch-up options and the opportunity to PVR, it will be impossible to miss anything this winter on the three kykNET channels.
Weekends are made to sleep in and spend quality time with family and friends. It is time to relax. We kick-start Friday nights around the fire with Jan Braai at 18:30. Then after the Afrikaans news we kuier with Toks, Breyten, Janina and Vaatjie in Toks en Tjops at 20:00. kykNET NOU! (DStv channel 146) is the perfect place for your weekend music with M-Net and Friends, every Friday at 21:00. We have playlists galore with the kykNET Top 20 keeping us up to date with the latest releases in the Afrikaans music industry.
From Saturday 15 July at 18:30 we pop in at the festivals with Fiësta. Emo Adams enjoys putting our celebs on the spot with a brand new season of Jou Show at 19:30 every Saturday. Pieter Koen will then take your requests for your favourite tracks at 20:00 on Jukebox. This will be the 10th season for both Jou Show and Jukebox on kykNET (DStv channel 144).
We finish the weekend with stories of South Africans who inspire us! Jý Geld is a finance programme which will guide you in making the correct decisions when it comes to money. Leandie du Randt Bosch and the contestants of Slank II gives us the opportunity to see how they overcome their fears and triumph in the battle against weightloss.
